Routesetting

Irish Climbing Coaching have considerable experience of routesetting for climbers of all abilities both for Competitions and for Commercial Climbing Walls. We are available for ongoing setting contracts as well as one off work.

Setting experience:

- 35’s Trophy Climbing Competition (2000)
- Irish Bouldering League Competions (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)
- Irish Intervarsities Climbing Championships (2008)
- Irish Outdoor Adventure Show, RDS (2006)
- MCI Youth Competiton Series; (2007, 2008)
- Bangor University Climbing Wall (in-house setter; 2003-2004)

Benefits of professional routesetting:

  • Regular route changes ensure clients return to the climbing wall more often than
    when routes are allowed to ‘stagnate’.
  • Creative and professional setting ensures a higher quality climbing experience for clients as well as reducing the incidence of injury associated with inexperienced setting.
  • Quick setting/re-setting of the wall ensures minimal disruption to business.

    Irish Climbing Coaching have previously acted as sports development consultants in the area of performance climbing and are currently involved with a major new development in the West of Ireland.

    We also have strong links with Climbing Wall and equipment manufacturers and are willing to consider most projects.

    Other Sports

    Nigel is currently providing physiological support as a sports scientist to a few high level athletes. Their sports include Running, Mountain Biking and Adventure Racing. In order to provide a very high quality service, he is only willing to take on a small number of athletes at one time.
